RE: Travel after chest tube/pigtail removal
I do not know about what the airlines recommend. The Air Force recommends
the following nursing considerations
1) They can not be moved until 24 hours after the chest tube is removed.
2) Receive a PA and LAT CXR 24 hours after the chest tube is removed.
3) An occlusive dressing must be in place over the CT site.
Hope this helps
Greg

Subject: Travel after chest tube/pigtail removal
Does anyone know of any information how long someone needs to wait after a
chest tube for spontaneous pneumothorax to fly commercially? Do you know if
the airlines have any policy regarding this?
I appreciate any information you can give me.
