Dan -
I have worked pediatric/neonatal transport almost exclusively for 15 years.
My kids don't remember me having any other job. When they were little, I
checked them for bruising (definitely leukemia), headaches were always brain
tumors, any head trauma and I was picking out a neurosurgeon (to myself, of
course - "normal" people never understood). When I would come home after
shift with the 15 minute dissertation on why nobody but a moron would drive
without a seatbelt, my 16 year old would look at me (with that look they
have) and say "Let me guess what you transported last night".
I appreciated Dr. Romig's questions - is this disrupting your personal or
professional life? If not, but you're worried about the types of things I've
outlined above - well, join the rest of us. I think it's great you have
brought to the open what every one of thinks at some time or another.
By the way, my five kids are 18 - 22 and all have cars (and no sense). Trust
me, the worst worries are yet to come! :)
