Re: Doubling ground transport patients
We will do double patient ground transports when it is appropriate. We start
by having our dispatchers get information on what is going on with the
patients and then passing this on to the shift supervisor or to the crew
that will be transporting the patients. The final decision always rests with
the crews comfort level on taking both patients at once.
Staffing for these kind on transport varies both on distance and acuity
level of the patients. If these are patients requiring our CCT crew, then
staffing will be a RN and EMT-P in the back and a qualified driver. If the
patients require ALS or BLS care then the minimum staffing will be an EMT-P
and an EMT-II. If they are going a long distance then we will add a driver
to the unit so that two medical crew-members can be in the back.
