RE: Retrograde intubation

Our next door neighbor, Canyon County Paramedics uses Retrograde. Many of us (myself included) have been through the training , which includes using pig tracheas and/or goats. While I haven't done it on a real patient, I think its a valuable addition to difficult airway management, and a good option to traditional surgical airways.
Just fey: we did discuss including retrograde in our procedures here at ACEMS, but decided to keep our focus on the skills we already had (surgical airways) and increase training time on that instead, we also expanded our protocols quite a bit and this wasn't a good year to add even more.
Email me and I can send you protocols, etc.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Retrograde intubation

I am interested in hearing if any services are using Retrograde intubations.
I would be interested in protocols, and if you have incountered any
difficulties. You may e-mail me with response. Thanks.
