FROM THE EDITORS:

Summer is in full swing, and we at MERGINET feel confident you’ll want to
take a look at the newest release of MERGINET.News, now on-line. The newest
material rolling onto the site includes an overview by Tonya Schafer of some
of the technology now available to EMS providers. A primer on disaster tags
is offered up as the latest collaborative article between MERGINET and the
“NAEMT News.” Dr. Keith Wesley puts a thought-provoking spin on dealing with
a time-honored “favorite” of field providers: public inebriates (a.k.a.
drunks). And MERGINET celebrates its sixth anniversary with a short article
about its past, present, and future.

John Becknell lures readers to his management column with the apt opener,
“Leading big organizational change is risky business.” (Read it to see why!)
Vic & Vern are back with their abundant acronyms, in a column about website
insight. Mike Taigman reviews a new Peter Block book, “The Answer to How is
Yes.” And popular columnist Tom Scott continues to unravel the mysteries of
billing and reimbursement with a column about the OIG’s Proposed Compliance
Guide.

Please be sure to peek frequently at the Sharps Container, on the left hand
side of MERGINET’s homepage, where news and other good information is posted
daily from around the world.

As always, we welcome your comments, concerns, and compliments. We reply to
everyone who writes. Send email to publisher Richard Bilger at
rbilger@Merginet.com or to Kate at editor@merginet.com.

Welcome to July 2002!
