Tocolytics
Does anyone on the list use transdermal nitro (0.4mg/hr)? An experimental protocol at our tertiary centre at present.
Also, is anyone aware of any research that specifically looks at tocolysis in transport? Keep getting MD's inform us that there is no proven benefit to MgS04, the papers I have found agree - but data collection and endpoints relate to eventual neonatal outcome, not to maintaining the fetus in-utero until arrival at a suitable location for safe delivery.
Would like to see studies that compare various tocolytics in use during the pre-transport and transport phase. Comparing isotonic crystalloid boluses alone, ritodrine, MgS04, nitroglycerine, indocid, nifedipine, other calcium channel blockers, terbutaline, SQ salbutamol, other beta blockers etc.
Fly Safe.
