About us: CHKD Transport Team serves a 150 mile radius around Hampton Roads
Virginia. We serve metropotian areas as well as rural communities. We
stabilize and then neonatal and pediatric patients to our children's
hospital as well as perform out bound transports to many other hospitals
across the country. We transport primarily by utilizing three specially
equipment ground Special Care Units (94 %), contracted fixed wing aircraft
(5%) , and neighboring rotorwing service (1%). We serve our PICU, NICU, ED,
OR, General Care units with 24 hours a day coverage( 365 days a year)  with
two dedicated transport teams, and hope to expand services this coming year.
All of our Transport team members come with some ICU background and get
addition training in needed areas before riding solo. We use a very detailed
orientation education process  with lots of hands on practical "Buddy on the
call" training to bring personnel up to competence. Variety of hours
available, shift are either 24 hour or 12 hours and/or  combinations with a
self scheduling format. Very close group of professionals.
