MDs for field amputations

I am posting this question for a friend, so please reply to the list, not
me personally.
I believe I've seen a bit of discussion on this topic in the past, but
can't recall any resolutions or suggestions given.

We get about one request a month to fly a surgeon out and it is always a
goat rope. The docs don't know what to bring with them or where to get it
and they don't even think about drugs until we mention it. We are usually
delayed by about 20 minutes while the goat gets roped and we are looking at
how to stream line this.<
