RE: Is this "standard"

If it were up to me I would pay our pilots $196 an hour to be here, watching televison or sleeping for the simple fact that when they do fly, they provide us with excellent service and are dedicated to our mission as a medical crew. They don't just "give us a ride". I'm sorry to hear there are programs where that isn't the case. Clearly this is a great job and if there are people within it that are disgruntled, perhaps they should be doing something else. I'm not sure there's any constructive intent that moves someone to go in a public forum and declare that they work with people they see as unproductive or overpaid. Someone who feels that way about the people they work with would most likely do well to find another job where everyone does what they think they should do and is compensated equitably in their estimation...

By the way, to answer the original question "is this standard", in my humble opinion standards aren't all that complex. The published standard is what you claim to do on paper. The true standard is what you allow to occur in your organization if you are unwilling or incapable of enforcing your published standards. What other people do in other places...that means absolutely nothing.
