RE: Hearing Protection for infants/toddlers

David,
I've had success providing hearing protection for infants and smaller kids by cutting the disposable closed cell foam ear plugs in half length wise, then rolling them up as you normally would before insertion. With this method they fill the external canal but don't expand so much that they push themselves out of the ear as often happens with full sized plugs.
This works pretty well for the sick/injured kids we normally fly. As for the active, rambunctious child nothing short of a papoose board will guarantee they won't pull something out.
Good luck.

Anybody have any tips or suggestions for providing hearing protection to our
tiny patients, i.e. when the normal size earplugs and headsets are too big or
become playtoys?
