Re: In Flight Ultrasound

I would suggest you get in touch with Dr. Gary Spear at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa Texas.  He is the EMS Medical Director of Odessa EMS and has done extensive research and field trials on prehospital ultrasounds.

I apologize that I do not have an Email or phone number for him.

Has anyone had experience with using a portable ultrasound machine for evaluation of a trauma patient during transport? If you have, do you have a policy or protocol you would be willing to share? I am referring to use of a machine more sophisticated than a Doppler- more along the lines of doing a FAST exam in flight. Thanks
