FROM THE EDITORS:

Take a look at the newest release of MERGINET.News, now online. We have a
variety of articles to interest and inform you, including two articles about
initiatives for various emergency care populations: Steve Carlo describes
the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch’s Emergency Telecommunicator
Course and Mic Gunderson describes the Open Source EMS Initiative.
We are proud to honor EMS Week by describing two Stars of Life: our
universally known symbol and the story of the AAA’s Stars of Life
celebration. Two other articles demonstrate MERGINET’s collaborative
initiative between print and electronic media: a piece about burns appears
both here and in the newly revamped “NAEMT News”, and another, “Infections
in the Elderly” (Part 3) by Karen Thurlow, appears concurrently in “EMS
Magazine.”
In our Management Matters section, Lauren Simon-Ostrow explores the
religious rights of employees, and regular columnist Don Hunjadi writes
about strategic planning. In Reviewers Roundup, you’ll find Dick Clinchy’s
opinions about the new DualFlow™ IV administration set.
We hope you’ve been regularly checking out the Sharps Container on the
left-hand side of our homepage at MERGINET.com, where we place
industry-related news and information almost daily. On a personal note, we
want to congratulate Corina Bilger, wife of and valued assistant to MERGINET
founder Richard Bilger, for passing her EMT course with flying colors! Also,
MERGINET’s very own intern-turned-editorial-assistant (and frequent feature
writer), Tonya Schafer, graduated from Aquinas College, in Grand Rapids,
Michigan, with honors this month. We’re proud of them both.
As always, please don’t be shy about sending us your Reader Feedback. We
reply to everyone as promptly as possible. Welcome to the May 20th release
of MERGINET.News!
Welcome to May 2002!
