RE: Ventilators

Donna,
Our program is pediatric/neonatal.  We use the MVP-10 with the isolette for neonates and infants<5.5kg.  We have an LTV 1000 by Pulmonetics that does volume and pressure ventilation.  W have successfully ventilatated 5 kg babies with this vent and it works great for bigger kids and adult sized patients.  It is relatively compact and lightweight.  Very user friendly for our team which does not use RRT's, so the RN's run the vent.    It is used in the home care setting  as well.  We looked at a lot of vents when we made this purchase 2 years ago and we are very happy with this vent.
I hope this helps.

Subject: Ventilators

The program that I work for is presently investigating purchasing a new transport ventilator.  The one that we use now works great for most adults. The problem is that it does only volume control ventilation.  So, it doesn't work for smaller children.  We transport children as young as 28 days up through adults.  We do interfacility as well as scene work.

I wondered  what's being used in other programs with a similar patient population?  We are especially interested in a vent that does volume as well as pressure control.  Hopefully, that would enable us to carry one ventilator and meet the needs of our entire patient population.

Thanks
Donna
