Our service provides
IABP transfers from one specific hospital in our service
area.
We take an IABP from
our base facility with us to the referring hospital and
we transfer the patient onto our pump prior
to departing and leave them with their
equipment.
We either utilize
current flight staff that are IABP proficient or we take a "balloon
tech" RN with is from our base facility.
As far as maintenance,
since we end up with our own IABP on the patient, it is not an
issue. The IABP that we transport to the referring facility is kept
in our CCU and their staff has responsibility for it's maintenance and
preparation. It is not a transport specific
pump.
I hope that
helps.
