Re: air evac, private reply
This reply is to Sheldon Dreaddy:
I do not work for AirEvac EMS nor are they a competitor, however, it seems
you are intimidated by their presence in your area.
You make many statements without facts to support them. If you say AirEvac
has been attributed to five deaths," spell it out - who attributes, where
did it occur, etc. Got ant NTSB reports to back up your claim? Do you really
want to get into comparing accident rate, etc. with the other major vendors?
By the way, what is an EPU?
If your program is CAMTS accredited, you should at least know how to
abbreviate it. I believe that CAMTS is important, but the fact that a
program is not so accredited does not equate to being unsafe, nor does
single engine aircraft. How many programs CAMTS accredited are flying those
awful single engine aircraft?
Do you personally know any of the medical personnel working for AirEvac? To
allege they provide only "an appearance of flight medicine" is quite an
indictment. Do you believe that any state department of health would allow
unqualified people to be a nurse or paramedic anywhere, let alone in an
aircraft?
Unless you have personally seen an aircraft with bungee cords and duct tape,
why bring it up? Again, do you believe the FAA would allow these kinds of
practices to happen?
Ah yes, the pilots. Each state department of health publishes it's minimum
requirements for EMS helicopter pilots. If a pilot meets those requirements,
what is your beef? Again, want to compare statistics?
Who does the inviting? Your elite program, the state, who?
Bottom line, if your program is a good as you think it is, or if other
programs were as bad as you say they are, you would have the only program in
the world.
Quit using this forum to bash other programs!
