Re: Flight Crew and Age
If you have a hard time finding a job.....let me know. I will take that
kind of experience any day.....no matter medic or nurse. Changing the
alphabet is meaningless 20 years of real life......now that is a degree
that is priceless.

I would like to pose a question to the list and solicit your
opionions on a question that I've recently been considering. The
general question is do any of the services you know of use a maximum age
as a limiting factor during the hiring process? The specifics behind
this are I'm currently considering entering an ADN program, I'm a
Paramedic with 17 years ground expierence, and should have by the time I
graduate the nursing program approximately 3 years flight expierence as
a paramedic. I realize that after graduating I'll need 3 to 5 years
critical care expierince prior to being reconsidered for a position as
flight nurse. So to make a long story short (which it may be to late for
that) I'm looking at being between 43 and 45 by the time my expierence
level is consumate with the requirements for a flight nurse with most
programs. So the question is will the age factor effect the probablity
of my finding employment with a flight service? Thanks in advance for
any opionions you care to render on this.
Sincerly
