I too have heard that quote, but I heard it was in regards to fashion, and
fads, not technology...Thus Afghanistan still likes Michael Jackson and
1980's Madonna look alike...

Trying to find the source of a quote that, in effect, says that what happens
in California happens within 3 years throughout the USA, 7 years later in
western english speaking countries, and within the decade elsewhere. Was
referriing (I think) to high tech revolution. 

something like "Living in Southern California is like being a tile on ythe
nose of the space shuttle"
