FROM THE EDITORS:
*****************************************************************
The newest issue of MERGINET is now online. Since April 1-7 is “sleep
awareness week,” you’ll see some interesting information about this
little-respected life necessity in an article by Kate Dernocoeur. Dave
Rodgers joins the writing team at MERGINET with information about “Breaking
the Bad News” in death situations. John Becknell writes a short piece that
will appear concurrently in the upcoming NAEMT News. Our program of running
articles concurrently with print media is intended to connect the emergency
care world in an innovative way – and we hope you like it!
Your product reviewer’s, Dick Clinchy and Jeff Robinson, have been busy.
This month we introduce the new Zoll AED Plus along with a review of the
Ambu Head Wedge.™ Check out the Flash demonstration of the Wedge for an
interesting presentation. You’ll also find a new book review by Mike Taigman
of an old favorite, Walden, by Henry David Thoreau. In our In Touch area
this month, Vic & Vern get all excited about “Built to Last EMS.”
Looking for Law Bytes? Doug and Steve are back with an excellent article
that you’ll find in Management Matters. This month, they write about how
(and why) managers should document decisions and actions in these uncertain
times. Also in Management Matters, Tom Scott gives us part two of his
excellent description of the new Medicare ambulance fee schedule.
We want to honor and acknowledge a departing regular writer, Valerie
DeFrance. For several years, Valerie has toed the (dead)line of her
commitment, and with the midnight sun rising in her state of Alaska, she has
asked to leave to pursue other interests. So, let us say publicly: Valerie,
thanks for all your great columns. We’ll miss you, and you are welcome back
any time. Be in touch!
As always, we welcome your comments, concerns, and compliments. We reply to
everyone who writes. Send email to publisher Richard Bilger at
rbilger@merginet.com or to Kate at editor@merginet.com.
Welcome to April, 2002!

############ Tell Your Story on ABC News' "20/20" ############
September 11th 2001 Insomnia and Nightmares story
ABC News "20/20" is looking for individuals who were directly impacted by
the tragic events of 9/11/01 and are experiencing sleep problems because of
it. Whether you were an eye witness, a survivor, rescue worker, or lost a
loved one, these horrible memories can creep into your dreams and turn them
into nightmares and rob you of precious sleep. If you have been
experiencing sleep problems, insomnia, recurring nightmares, etc. because of
the events on 9/11/01, "20/20" is interested in hearing your story. We are
hoping to offer advice in this segment that will help people tackle these
problems and get back to sleep.
If you participate in this segment, "20/20" would need to spend one day
with you shooting B-roll [background video - you doing normal daily
activities like work, hobbies, getting to sleep, etc.) and conducting an
interview. The more details you can give us about your ordeal, the better
it is for telling your story. Therefore, the more access we have to your
daily life, the more we can understand what you've been going through. If
you have any questions, you can contact the producer, Joy Levy at
800-221-7386, ext. 7491 or mailto:joy.levy@abc.com
