RE: standards

David,

You will find reference to helmets and nomex in some or all of the safety
position papers from AAMS, ASTNA and NFPA as well as reference to their use
in the CAMTS standards. There is no "law" per se, but most professional
organizations highly recommend them. You will probably find extensive
discussion concerning their value in the archives of the flight web. After
the nurses, paramedics, and RTs finish their "lose-lose" turf battle perhaps
there will some discussion of this topic again. In the world of hospitals,
particularly nursing, he or she who has the most letters after their name
believe they win...

Subject: standards

I would like to know if helmets and/or Nomex flight suits are recommended
or required by any federal or industry standards. If so, what are they and
where can I find them.
