When our patients are intubated and chemically paralyzed, they get (at the very least) liberal sedation if their blood pressure allows, and in the face of orthopedic injuries or burns, they get LIBERAL narcotics  (b/p allowing). You certainly don't have to worry about respiratory depression. :)
