Re: program configuration
Here in Virginia our R.N.'s are allowed to function as an ALS provider and perform the same skills they
normally would even on scene call. The Operational Medical Director signs them off on all of there
skills, including intubations. They take the EMT class and that is it. It also helps for our program
because our medical director just happens to be the State Medical Director as well. Never hurts to have
that kind of pull in your corner, also she is very active in our EMS based services as well. Good luck.
