RE: Dispatch Software
For some reason the web site links didn't come through on this email. (at
least I didn't see them on my email client)
Here they are again:

Subject: RE: Dispatch Software
STAT MedEvac has always used the Aeromed software system developed by
Innovative Engineering. It is a great product that meets all of our dispatch
needs. Several modules are available to purchase including Dispatch, Flight
Data Management, Continuing Education, Patient Charting, and Comm Server.
You can use all the modules or just the ones that interest you. Performance
of the system is not dependent upon use of all of the modules. The newest
module is Aeromap. Innovative Engineering has done a fabulous job of
integrating their Dispatch module with the Outerlink Satellite Tracking
System. The Aeromap module runs on all of Dispatch workstations
simultaneously. The integration of each of the modules provides the "ease of
use" that I, as the Information Systems Manager, needs to make my job more
efficient.
We currently have 4 helicopters running the Outerlink Satellite tracking
equipment with 7 more helicopters and 2 Fixed Wing aircraft scheduled to
receive the units. The Aeromap program shows the exact position of the
aircraft on a street level map. The integration of Aeromap with Dispatch
allows a visual display of the aircraft location in reference to all
hospitals, airports, predesignated LZs, and towns that are in your Dispatch
database. The system also automatically updates the aircraft position and
lift offs and landings. This provides a much needed break in radio traffic
for a system as busy as STAT MedEvac. The other big advantage is not losing
communications with those ships that fly beyond the radio tower system
range. We have base sites in 3 states and routinely fly into a total of 5
states and the District of Columbia. Aeromap allows 2-way messaging between
the aircraft and Comm Center while in flight which is a great feature. There
is also a Mayday feature that allows instant notification to the Comm Center
of any emergencies while in flight. Everyone knows how expensive it is to
install a radio tower site. The Aeromap program integrated with Outerlink
will virtually expand our radio system to the entire United States. A big
plus for our Fixed Wing program.
The best advice I can say about using the Aeromed software is that you MUST
take the time to learn the system. With a properly configured computer
network, the Aeromed Software can be used throughout your organization. I
have our system configured to run Aeromed at the Comm Center on 11
workstations, my office and 3 other Manager's office, and the best part: my
home. This type of network capabilities allows me to research issues and
repair problems from almost any location at any time. (This job consumes my
life!)
I have researched many other programs and none can compare to the
capabilities of Aeromed. The tech support is awesome. With such a large
system and so many things happening simultaneously, I do present some
challenges to the Tech Support staff. But, they always come through and keep
us running.
I would be happy to further discuss this software and answer any questions
you have.

I am interested in what dispatch software any of you are using along with
your comments, or if you are looking to upgrade what you are attracted to.
Thanks, Mike
