Re: program configuration



Is there any functional difference for you as far as being able to use your protocols?  

Here in New York State, there is no mechanism to recognize the RN as a field provider at the ALS level unless they are a state certified Paramedic or EMT-CC etc.... Thus technically, a flight nurse who is not also a prehospital ALS provider could not establsih an IV legally in the field.  

I know PA has a prehospital RN status which allows RN's with docuemented critical care experience to function as an ALS provider as long as they meet formal BLS provider requirements. I know there are ground service paramedics out there with advanced protocols such as RSI. As long as your medical director approves your skill set, there should not be any issues as far as the level of care your organization provides.
