Ken,
Who accepts this flight? I would have a hard time
accepting it without my medical director first
assessing the situation with me.
We don't transport if the pt is crowning at the
bedside, but that is per our protocols. I would have
to agree with what Steve and the rest have said. The
pucker factor is much too high here.
Would the GP and other attendant be prepared for an
emergent c-section? The airplane is definitely not the
ideal place for that to occur. Four hands just aren't
enough with a distressed baby and mom,especially
during the above event.
I am really interested to hear your follow up. It is
not the place I would want to be. I will be the first
to admit OB is not my favorite clinical area. This is
definitely not a scenario I want to visit anytime
soon.
