Consents

I dont know what relevance A verbal consent would be from a traumatized or
intoxicated pt. Thats as strange as when the state troopers read the consent
for BAL to intubated sedated pts in the trauma room . If a consent is such a
legal concern - What would you do if you had an intoxicated, confused
multiple trauma pt who absolutely refuses transport? Would you actually honor
his wishes??
Of course not - you would transport the pt if he consents or if he refuses. So
why ask
By obtaining consent - if anything happens, ( in the courts eyes) you have
handed them a case that you are transporting a patient against his will,
Instead of just transporting a pt.
A lot of times in life - its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission
