Hi Nancy,
At our program we do not get written consent forms signed nor do we go to the hospital later and get anything signed. We mainly work off of "Implied consent", this has served us well for over 20 yrs. We fill out a "Medical Necessity form" and this has proven valuable in recouping payment from insurance companies. We had two cases in the past few years were people had claimed that they did not want to or did not need to be flown, but we won both causes and received payment for both as well. This may not be the best way to do it but it works for our area. I think it has to do with good documentation, everything is spelled out in the chart. We do this for all scene calls and hospital transfers. If so, how and when are you having patients sign them? If you are not required to get them, why? Thanks Nancy |
