Bill.. In response to MAST use, we use them for transport as a back-up plan only. I am a prior MAST medic myself and I assure you that although willing, they may not always be able to respond. Remember, they may have a military mission they cannot break away from. Secondly, the UH-60 Blackhawk has a few drawbacks. The luxury of a heating system is sacrificed for more shaft horse-power. How cold is it right now inside your car sitting at the hanger in say, Alaska? If you are seeing a lot of rotor required flights, ask your mgmt if they are billing for MAST transports, we don't. How long before someone else shows up with a helo ready to take those future calls from your agency?Remember, mgmt is required to watch the bottom line so do your research on past flights and propose a solution including revenue vs. cost.
