RE: Question...
Are you locked into rotary? Can give leads into fixed wing, where I fly over 80% of flights are uncontrolled airspace / GPS nav under IFR conditions (oops... actually IFR NDB flight plans), and into short gravel strips (2900' with BE-B200C, 2500' with BE-C90, 800-2400' ice/sand/grass etc with DHC-6-300 on skiis/tundra tires/floats (summer) PRN). Once ATPL qualified, switching back to rotary then to medevac might be easier than building non-medevac flight time. Links are:

(bringing 3rd BE-200 on line April, will be hiring pilots in spring when float season kicks into high gear. Time from hire to permanant right seat slot usually about 8 to 12 months depending on hours and experience.
If only loose collections of parts vibrating in close formation will do, we use this contractor for all our ad-hoc rotary wing Medevac's. The reason they specifiy Canadian trained pilots only is lack (as I understand it) in FAA curriculum of full-on autorotation training. ALso most Canadian pilots are experienced in bush operations, longline/vertical reference flying with sling cargo, and mountain flying. Not all skills are required, so best to talk to chief pilot and explain your career plans. They hire every spring.

Less than 5% of pilots here come from military backgrounds by the way. Not good or bad, just reality.
