We've had LOX systems on our last two A-Stars and after having it I'd be hesitant to go back to a
high-pressure, compressed gas system. Less weight, higher capacity, lower pressure (safer) system, 5 min.
to change a bottle, no high pressure cascade refilling systems to deal with. We have only one spare
bottle to change out and our LOX supplier shows up twice a week to refill bottles PRN. JEMS had a good
article some time ago about LOX for ambulances and had lots of good things to say about it. One point
made in the article is that you lose less out the relief valve of a LOX system than you do leaving that
last 500 psi in a compressed tank, thus making the LOX system more cost effective. With that said, the
biggest down side of LOX is the initial cost of installing the system. Hope this helps.
