Re: LOX
I've only seen a LOX system on one ambulance. As far as capacity
goes, the system that was installed in that ambulance was about 3x
that of any cylinder that we'd had. The downside was that the system
leaked badly enough that all the LOX would be gone in 3 days, whether
or not we'd actually used any on a patient. At least there was a
"backup" cylinder that was available. Because that system could be
left on, the leak had to be in the LOX tank or hoses to the selector
valves. We could not, however, nail down the source of the leak.
If/when it was operational, we loved it because we had a much more
than adequate supply of O2.
