I had the impression that most flight programs have a "one no, no go"
policy - meaning if one crew member, medical included, does not want to
proceed (for safety reasons) then the mission is cancelled.
Are there programs that don't have this stipulated?
I guess this thread could beg another question, i.e. even if there is a
policy allowing a medical flight crew member to cancel a flight, are there
subtle ways that this is discouraged?
When I flew for Rocky, our policy was that any crew member could cancel a
mission if they were uncomfortable with conditions. I never cancelled a
mission, but our relationship with the pilots and management was such that I
would have felt comfortable doing it...
