Re:Need policies / 24 hour shifts

Attention Hospital based aeromedical teams. We need your help. Our
services is currently re-visiting the idea of going to 24/12 hour
shifts. I am looking for guideline/policies regarding such issues as how
many hours of "air/flight", time can one team put in before activating
the "on call " crew ? Do you think there is a need for an on call crew?
How do you cover sick call, vacations, etc,? What are your sleep hours
and what criteria is used by the hospital to "wake" you up during this
time. How many hours off do you have to have between shifts? Please fax
policies to 515-241-7EMT Attention Life Flight.

If you have a file you wish to share with people on any mailing list,
it
is always the best option to upload it to a web/FTP server and send
the
link address out in a message.

The issue on Flightmed (the mailing list) is that adding large
attachments
to each email tends to overload the mail server when it's sending that
much data to nearly 1000 people. Add to that the fact that not
everybody
on the list necessarily wants them sent to them automatically, or may
not
be able to handle that particular type of file anyway, such as
Powerpoint
presentations, or that many folks will be stuck downloading a huge
email
attachment via slow dial-up before they can access the rest of their
email.

If you (or anyone else) do not have web space available for this sort
of
thing, there is plenty of space on FlightWeb for storing photos,
graphics,
sample document forms, protocols, Peds cheat sheets (what ever happened
to
those, anyway), etc. Just let me know and I'll tell you how to upload
the
files. A link to each file can then be sent out to the list so people
can
choose to download them if and when they like.
