RE: Educational Paths

Sound like you should investigate entry-level MSN programs or accelarated
one year BSN programs like that of MCP Hanneman. Just a thought.

Subject: Educational Paths

I have a conundrum...

I have a B.S. degree in Exercise Physiology and am an EMT-B. While working
in an Emergency Department and for two EMS agencies, and being privileged
enough to get to experience "fly-alongs" with a local Aeromedical
Helicopter, I have come to the conclusion that I think that I may want to
be a flight nurse when I grow up.

I've tried to read up on as many as I could about the general requirements
to become a flight nurse. But it doesn't state in any of the sources that
I read what the preferred level of education is for RN's. So here
specifically is my conundrum; which educational level (i.e. diploma, ASN,
BSN, or MSN) of RN is generally required/preferred by flight programs? Is
an ASN and a B.S. in another field enough? Is a BSN a must? Would an
entry-level MSN over qualify?

Any directions or advice would be very much appreciated. Responses can be
made personally to me at pseudoscott@voyager.net or to the group in case
there are any other aspiring-to-be flight nurses out there that are in the
same "non-traditional" boat that I am.

Fly safe, drive safe, be safe,

Scott Woolf
