Re: peds transport

Storage and cost. Their are car seats that fold flat so that they do not take up space. Cost? What is the cost of a life needlessly lost? It will take one and a law suit to change thinking I believe. But of course we will continue to rant against parents who do not safely secure their children. Righteous in our indignation. As someone has stated are we not obliged to follow the same laws as the rest of the public?

Off the top of my head, I don't believe that any Florida EMS regs specifically address transportation requirements for peds one way or the other. For reasons including storage space and cost, it's an on-going challenge to assure that EMS providers can appropriately protect kids is such a way as to not compromise patient care *and* meet the same criteria that the general public is (supposed to be) obligated to.

I have a question. In Florida do you know of any laws that prohibit transporting peds on the mother's lap. Mom secured on stretcher holding child. Transport would be by ground or air. I see it happening alot here and it drives me nuts. It is obviously an unsafe manner in which to transport children.
