Even though it's only been 10 days since the Flightmed Census survey was
posted, the numbers of respondents has tapered off, so we're closing it
now and posting the results.

To preface, the results are entirely NON-scientific with a 100% margin of
error. :) The main reason is that there was no way to restrict repeat
postings. So even though the results are interesting, they may or may not
have any bearing to the actual makeup of the subscribers to Flightmed.

Approximately 25% of the list participated in the survey (229 out of 889).
It should be noted that some email addresses actually represent more than
one individual. The total number doesn't include any of the people that
read the archives instead of receiving postings by email.

Nearly two-thirds of respondents are practicing air medical flight crew
members.  While this isn't surprising, it would be nice to have more
representation/ participation by other disciplines in air medical
transport, such as by pilots and communications specialists. Both of these
groups have their own discussion lists, which may account for this
difference.

The vast majority of participants (78%) are at least competent or expert
in their current position in air medical transport.

Most participants listed their flight program affiliation with their
survey response. We haven't bothered to correlate this listing with a
current list of flight teams, but it was interesting to note that most
flight teams were only listed once while a few programs had a handful of
subscribers. In other words, the entire industry seems to be fairly well
represented on the Flightmed discussion list, but only a few individual
programs are represented by more than one person.
