Despite popular opinion, the evidence for solumedrol in SCI in any setting is very shaky at best. Even if it does work, which is doubtful, the time frames that most air transport systems operate within will almost never mandate the use of solumedrol. The only situation I can possiby conceive of is if a great delay occurred at a sending facility, and the receiving facility required solumedrol, it could be started at the sending facility and continued as needed enroute.
Our program does not carry solumedrol for the reasons outlined above.
