Same configuration; same success rate (95-100%).

Subject: Endotracheal Intubation Success Rates
Hi there...We are facing a bit of a dilemma at our program. Having utilized
RSI for facilitation of advanced airway placement for the past seven years,
we now have new interest from our local EMS office as to what the *(&*&$^%^*
we are doing! On a quarterly basis, our success rates for placement of an
endotracheal tube following RSI fluctuates from 95 - 100%. Of course, we
look at overall airway management, and for those patients without ETT tubes
successfully placed, we are able to document successful BVM or surgical
airway management ( stable HR and Sp02 values).
Here is how you can help. I know the majority of us are taking advantage of
facilitated intubation. While the chemicals may vary, I am sure we share
the same experience of increased success with RSI.
I am looking for a very non-scientific "thumb nail" idea of success rates
out there.
We fly RN/paramedic...both trained in advanced airway management.
Can anyone help with some information? I would like to share it in a very
generic manner with our local EMS office.
Thanx..Jen
