1. Our dispatch center has several different
"desk" and there are East bank, West Bank etc. dispatchers. We have 2
assigned to Georgia desk but they could also backup other states, if the Ga.
desk is not busy.
One scenes, dispatch will ask us which of two
trauma centers we would like to take our pt. to. The two centers are
within strolling distance from each other. The hospital transfer system,
we can and will help a facility if they are having difficulty finding a
receiving, but on the most part, the referral and acceptance is done by the
referring hospital.
2. No, as stated above. We do have a
referral center for mostly cardiac with the hospital we have a contract
with. We are not based at that hospital nor are we obligated to them if we
accepted a flight seconds before our sponsor hospital calls for us to do a
transport.
3. Our center is remote, another
state.
4. For the most part we have very little
difficulty with communication. The most obvious problem is the dispatchers
are not familiar with our states county and city names. We have
counties like, county of Spaulding, town of Griffin. AND county of
Paulding, town of New Georgia. Can cause a problem because one ship covers
one of the territories and another covers the other. Most of the crews are
aware of the cities and county's and can correct it immediately.
5. No but would be a great idea. Would
probably get our programs more flight, thanks for the
thought.
