Re: helmet vs. headset--CAMTS

 Mike,
very thought provoking.
Personal thoughts:
1.I don't think helmets "overcome basic design flaws"
nor are used "as a fix".
2.Crashes ARE unpredictable.
3. "The goal should be a safe cabin and
> safe equipment mountings that would do little harm
> in a crash." YES.
4."Is everyhing in your cabin, that needs
> to be, legally mounted with 337s or STCs." YES.
5. As far as "throwing stuff in" That is very much
discouraged and all crewmembers are weighed in with
all their "carry on" stuff which the pilots use to
compute weight and balance. Therefore, it is not
something that can constantly be changing shift to
shift . We re-weigh all equipment on board as well as
ourselves anywhere from 3-4 x/year.
6. "Is your isolette or baloon pump strapped to a
> stretcher or hard mounted on an approved mount?"
YES. or we wouldn't be doing those types of flights.
7. I make a point of making sure all my "loose
equipment" is secured. Anything and everything is a
potential missile....... helmet or no helmet......
