#9 states..."Head Strike Envelope"
a. Appropriately sized helmets are worn (by all
personnel on the aircraft except for the patient) OR
the interior modification of the aircraft is clear of
objects/projections OR the interior of the aircraft is
padded to protect the head-strike envelope of the air
medical personnel and patients as appropriate to the
aircraft."
So for those programs working on achieving
certification it may be more cost-effective to
purchase helmets for their staff rather than
reconfigure/modify the interior of their existing
aircraft.
