RE: helmet vs. headset

Excellent point Sara! Our program also requires and provides helmets for all
the crew members for exactly that point and many others. I certainly feel
much safer around turning rotorblades, among the debris that can be thrown
up, with my helmet on. It's all about being as safe as possible. Afterall,
when something hits you in the head....that's stupid! Safe skies,

I have read both in the concern archives and at the
flightweb of several incidents of bird strikes. In
those cases, if the crew member had not been wearing a
helmet with a visor, serious injury or death might
have occurred. Perhaps there isn't proof out there
that it improves survivability in a crash situation,
but I sure want that extra protection...just in case!
Our program requires and provides helmets for all crew
members.
