Re: Response times and safety

Mona,
We also have a 10 mn L/O-response time at CareFlight.
We do a monthly time study to look for reasons for
delay in L/O, bedside, turnaround, etc. I have never
really found any particular safety concerns. Delay in
L/O is sometimes caused by taking covers off the
blades, pulling the A/C out of the hangar, etc. Our
times also start after the weather is checked. We do
our best to stay with in our time limits, but we go
through the appropriate motions to do it in a safe and
controlled manner. I don't know if this gives you any
more information than you already have, but I thought
I would let you know. Sue Toberman, RN
