Re: 24 hour shift

Hello Todd,

We currently work a mixture of 24, 16,12, and 8 hour
shifts. As a general rule our FN's work 2-24 hour
shifts a week and our FP's work a 24 and a 16 hour
shift per week. Full time Paramedics work a 40 hour
work week with the Nurses working an average of 42
hours a week. Presently, we do not have any maximum
patient contact hours. An afternoon rest is encouraged
after all the daily duties have been done. As a
general rule we do not allow our Medical staff to work
over 24 hours straight without an extenuating
circumstance (e.g. snowed in or sick call-in's). The
24 hour shifts work well for us. Almost all our staff
like 24 hour shifts better than other shorter shifts.

Hope this helps!
