Re: EMT-P to RN programs

Check with your States EMS office or whoever issues the EMT-P licenses.
Requirements vary sometimes greatly as to what hoops a RN has to jump
through to get the EMT-P license. Florida has switched back and forth
regarding this and is looking like they might flip the tables again.
Currently, an RN can take a basic EMT course (1 semester typically) then
challenge the state exam and get an EMT-P license.

RNs who first did this many years ago got the nickname ?? anyone from
Florida recall ???

"PatchMedics" - Since they never actually took the EMT-P courses. Before
anyone says anything, Yes, there were some very good patchmedics and some
bad ones too, just as there are now and will be long after the dust settles.
Same goes for EMT-Ps who cross to nursing as well.
