One of the most interesting studies I have found is the following:
"Use of the Laryngeal Mask Airway in Air Transport When Intubation Fails"
Martin et. al. The Journal of Trauma, Injury, Infection, and Critical Care
Vol 47 No 2. Page 352-357.
This reports on the use of the LMA in the setting of failure to place an ET
tube - and looks specifically at ventilation/ aspiration issues.
Comes from Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia.
