Great question Michael! For me it was a natural progression from being a
ground paramedic to working at a service that does both ground and air and
then going back to college and becoming an RN. I never had a doubt that
after nursing school and the requisite time in critical care units, I would
go back to flying. I have found that I enjoy this job due to the autonomy
that we are able to practice under, because of this I now find that I enjoy
working ground shifts as much as flight shifts. The flying part is great and
most of us, if we are honest, will admit that we just love the idea of
getting paid to fly around in a helicopter and take care of sick patients.
