| Scott, Just a quick comment regarding writing a check - if your crews have been out the night before a twelve hour shift and miss the ETT in the first hour - if you don't have a policy defining the 8 hours prior to your shift you would still write the check. You may want to talk to some lawyers that work with fire departments. All of the departments out in the west that I know of work 24 hour shifts and have probably looked at these issues for malpractice situations. Just a thought to get an answer on this issue before you make any big decisions.....
