Re: Where were you when...



NJ's programs (NorthSTAR and SouthSTAR), were only grounded for about 4 
hours. They had permission to fly, but the airport wouldn't let them take 
off. Our aircraft are owned and operated by the NJ State Police. They put a 
total of 5 aircraft in service to handle medivac patients. They staged on 
the NJ side of the river across from NY. We were given special squawk 
codes, from NORAD, to use when flying so we would not be shot down by 
F-16s. By 7pm the 1st night we were told to stand down. I know the 
SouthSTAR crew never touched a patient. I belive NorthSTAR did a 
inter-hospital or two.
