Re: Backup oxygen for AS350

Hello Chris,
Our AS 350 has an aluminum "D" tank mounted in a rack on the floor to the right of the pilot's seat. This tank is used for transporting the patient from the hospital to the copter but, it's primary purpose is to be a back-up O2 source to the aircraft system. Our policy includes exchanging the tank with a full one when it's below 1200 psi. We figure at 10 liters per minute (which is enough to run a 3 liter bag) 1200 psi in this "D" tank will give us 20 minutes to fly to a new O2 source. We ask our medical crews to check the quantity before every flight.
A"D" tank is the same diameter as an "E" tank yet about half as long. Not much O2 to spare so I like to see it pretty much full all of the time.
