Just a little off topic but this thread reminded me of something I noted and
worked with our aircraft technician to resolve. For those of you flying BK's
have you ever noticed the micro dots of dirt and or blood around the aft
ceiling? It seems that as the weather stripping wears down around the
clamshells, exhaust fumes leak into the cabin along with the exhaust
particulate. If any blood gets on the floor and drifts aft as in the change
of attitude when landing, the blood becomes aerosolized (sp?) and splatters
the walls not to mention possibly your lungs. We were able to minimize the
exhaust grime/air leak with frequent replacement of the weather stripping and
took extra steps to assure we get no blood leaks onto the floor (the hardest
one) by utilizing blankets on top of the waterproof "emergency blankets" and
tucking the patient in. The regular blankee absorbed loose blood and the good
old yellow plastic blankee kept it off the floor. Since I have not flown
other aircraft I cannot speak of those, but just a safety tip to pass on
jarred from my feeble mind. Fly Safe, Billy
